CDL-A Truck Driver

North Central Service, Inc. is a leading provider in bringing fiber optic cable into communities since 1978. Our company has an employment opportunity for an Over the Road CDL-A Truck Driver. Hours are part-time and will vary for this position.

We are looking for a skilled and responsible individual seeking part-time employment to join our team and contribute to our commitment to excellence and safety.

Hours will vary from 20 to 55 hours per week. We offer a generous per diem expense for over the road work, as well as paid-time off (PTO).

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years experience of commercial driving
  • Commercial Driver’s License.
  • Acceptable driving record.
  • Drug/ Alcohol free.
  • Availability to work long hours, including weekends.
  • Ability to work in all types of weather.
  • Ability to report to work at varied times and on short notice.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Organized, punctual, and flexible.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs pre-trip and post trip, filling out forms daily and submitting to appropriate party.
  • Fill out log forms daily and submit to appropriate party.
  • Keep truck clean inside and out, as if was your own.
  • Report maintenance problems to mechanics or dispatch.
  • Follow all safety regulations, policies, and precautions.
  • Help with maintenance of truck and equipment i.e. (greasing, keeping fluids full, small repairs, etc.)
  • Flexibility, willingness, and patience in helping the company perform necessary functions of work that overall help the team succeed.

Candidates must pass a motor vehicle / background check, and a pre-employment drug screening.

Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Underground Fiber Optic Construction

Job Description:

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing a wide variety of heavy construction and support equipment used in underground fiber-optic installation.

Requirements:

  • Perform diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and repairs on equipment such as:

- Directional drills (Ditch Witch, Vermeer, etc.)

- Vacuum excavators and hydrovac units

- Mini-excavators, skid steers, backhoes, dozers

  • Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
  • Perform routine inspections and safety checks; document work performed.
  • Maintain clean, organized workspaces, tools, and service vehicles.
  • Communicate repair needs, parts requirements, and equipment status with supervisors and project managers.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies, OSHA standards, and DOT regulations.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 3+ years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic or diesel technician.
  • Strong working knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and diesel systems.
  • Ability to read schematics and diagnostic codes.
  • Valid driver’s license; clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work outdoors in various conditions.
  • Tools

Preferred:

  • Experience with directional drilling equipment (Ditch Witch / Vermeer).
  • CDL-A
  • Experience in telecommunication or underground utilities industry.
  • Welding/fabrication skills.
